MDF Powder Coating Line for Wood Panels and Metal Components

Designed for MDF and Heat-Sensitive Substrates

This MDF-adapted powder coating production line is specially designed for medium-density fiberboard (MDF) panels and selected metal components. The system combines automatic electrostatic powder spraying with manual touch-up stations, providing high coating quality while maintaining the flexibility required for products with different sizes and shapes.

A Power & Free overhead conveyor system transports workpieces smoothly throughout the production process, while manual loading and unloading allow flexible handling of various panel configurations.

The production line is optimized for low-temperature curing powders, making it suitable for heat-sensitive substrates such as MDF without compromising coating quality or production efficiency.

Powder Coating Process

1. Surface Preparation: Before coating, the workpieces are cleaned to remove dust and surface contaminants, ensuring proper powder adhesion and consistent coating quality.
2. Preheating: The workpieces are preheated to approximately 60–80°C, improving powder deposition and coating uniformity, particularly for MDF substrates.
3. Electrostatic Powder Application: Electrostatically charged powder is applied using automatic spray guns, while manual touch-up ensures complete coating of edges and difficult-to-reach areas.
4. Low-Temperature Curing: The coated workpieces pass through a curing oven operating at approximately 135–140°C, where the powder melts, flows, and chemically cross-links to form a durable protective coating.
5. Cooling: Controlled natural cooling stabilizes the coating and prepares the workpieces for handling and packaging.
6. Quality Inspection: Finished products are inspected for coating thickness, appearance, adhesion, and overall coating quality before shipment.
